CROPREDY 2nd looked capable of causing a major upset for a while in their match against Cherwell League Division 6 leaders Wolverton Town 2nd on Saturday.

A fine spell of 6-48 by Michael Boscott helped Cropredy, who are cut adrift at the bottom of the table, restrict their opponents to 163 all out.

But Cropredy then collapsed to 79 all out to suffer an 86-run defeat.

In Division 7, Robin Newman gave Abingdon Vale 3rd the upper hand against Oxford 3rd .

The veteran seamer took 5-45 to restrict Oxford to 119, but Vale were unable to capitalise on a strong position and finished on 112-9.

The best analysis of the day came from Dinton 3rd’s spinner Simon Kempster, who took 8-71 against Challow & Childrey 3rd but still finished on the losing side in Division 9.

Challow were bowled out for 134, and then dismissed Dinton for 61, Tom Greatrex taking 3-6.
