Wesley Morrick turned in another match-winning spell as Aston Rowant saw off high-riding Division 2 West hosts Cove by 102 runs in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League.
Morrick returned figures of 7-54 as Cove were shot out for 96, in reply to the visitors’ score of 198-8 from 60 overs.
The result setsup a massive top-of-the-table game at home next week against Dinton, who lead second-placed Rowant by just 13 points.
Tim Morgan (66) and Chris Watling (51) sharing an opening stand of 105 for Rowant.
Rowant then lost wickets at regular intervals in the chase for quick runs .
The vuisitors’ bowlers never allowed the home side to settle and took early wickets to make Cove’s task almost impossible.
Morrick, with another big haul, was once again ably supported by Glenn Carlton, who picked up 2-26 enabling the Rowant to wrap proceedings up in 32 overs.
