Olympian and Australian record holder Craig Mottram heads a strong field for tonight’s Iffley Road Festival of Miles.

The former world 5,000m bronze medallist has a best time of 3mins 48.98secs for the mile, so could break his own track record of 3.56.64, which he set in 2004.

Mottram, will use the event as build-up for the 5,000m at London 2012 where he will compete against Mo Farah.

Open races for locals start at 4pm, with the elite BMC races from 5.40pm.

There are limited on-the-day entries for open races before 3.30pm, costing £3.

Team GB basketball got a pre-Games boost yesterday when Oxford-born Mike Lenzly passed a fitness test and will be fit for tomorrow’s first-round game against Russia.

Oxford Hawks Hockey Club in North Oxford (OX2 8EQ) is one of 35 GB ‘Hockey Houses’ around the country where fans can congregate to watch the British men and women compete in the Olympics.
