THE Oxfordshire Masonic fishing charity event was held again at Farmoor Flyfishers’ Darlow Water where 15 youngsters from two special schools, Kingfisher Abingdon and Fitzwaryn Wantage, got a first taste of trout fishing, aided by nine helpers.
On a hot day, conditions were far from ideal and only a few fish were hooked, but the youngsters were able to see plenty of brownies leaping only yards from the bank!
Farmoor president Wally Ward presented the certificates and medals.
Organiser John Stanley said: “My thanks go to the team of willing helpers and of course to Farmoor Flyfishers and the Oxfordshire Freemasons who provide the funds, without which we could not continue this important community activity."
