Gladiators A broke their duck at the 12th attempt with a 2-1 home win over Six Bells C Kidlington in the Premier/Section 1 of the Greene King Oxford & District League.

Chris Jenkins (4-5-4) led the way with 13 dolls as Gladiators won the opening leg 25-23 only for Six Bells to take the next on three sticks after a 26-26 tie.

But Gladiators weren’t to be denied, taking the last 33-27.

Roger Goodall (4-4-6) shone for Six Bells with 14 dolls.

Tommy Recht (4-4-5) and Ken Maunder both hit 13 dolls for Garsington Sports A, but it could not prevent them going down 2-1 at home to Three Pigeons.

Neil Lyon (3-4-6) hit 13 dolls for Three Pigeons as they won the opening leg on three sticks after it was tied 23-23.

They edged home 27-26 in the next, before Garsington grabbed the last with a 33-29 success.

In Section 2, Vikings Sports B won 3-0 at home to Red Lion Yarnton, but the game was much closer than the score suggests. Vikings easily won the opening leg 23-11, but had to rely on three- sticks shoot-outs in the next two after they were tied 20-20, 23-23. Allan Davies (4-4-4) threw a steady dozen for Vikings.

Basement boys Black Prince hit a massive 29 in their middle leg at home to Chequers A as they notched up their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory.

Black Prince’s Alan Holt (3-5-5) and Chequers’ Steve Tooke (4-5-5) hit 13 dolls apiece.

Kidlington Green Social Club swept to a 3-0 home win against Three Horseshoes in Section 3. Dave Britnell (4-4-6) led the way for Kidlington with 14 dolls, while Phil Jackson bagged a six in his dozen dolls for Horseshoes.

Kevin Stuart (5-5-4) clanged off 14 dolls in Rose Hill Club B’s 3-0 home win over Masons A.

Second-placed Kennington Club A came from behind to win 2-1 at home to leaders Seacourt Bridge in their Section 4 top-of-the-table battle.

Danny Brown (4-5-4) top-scored with 13 dolls for Seacourt.

Peter Sellar (4-5-3) hit a dozen dolls as Section 9 leaders Crown Chalgrove won 2-1 at Jolly Postboys.
