Banbury won by 18 runs at Burnham in Division 1 – despite Aftab Khan taking all nine of the north Oxfordshire club’s wickets to fall.
Off-spinner Aftab picked up 9-51 as Banbury made 137-9.
But then the hosts collapsed to 119 all out.
After winning the toss, Banbury captain Jimmy Phillips’s bold approach of batting first again on a pitch which was always likely to be bowler-friendly again paid dividends.
Lloyd Sabin (28) and Ian Tew (22) did well to put on a half-century partnership for the first wicket.
But after Khan parted them, he slowly worked his way through the order.
And it took a good stand between 18-year-old New Zealander Anish Desai (37no) and Phillips to take Banbury to their final total.
Seamers Ollie Wright and Josh Megson picked up a wicket apiece at the start of Banbury’s reply.
Spinners Phillips (4-60) and Richard West (3-23) then got to work.
But the hosts looked on course for victory at 90-6 until a late collapse saw them bowled out.
Burnham 5pts, Banbury 25
