Hannah England says she is itching to get back on the track tonight when she runs in the London Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old Oxford City ace competes in the 1,500m at 7.36pm, which will be her first race since May 27.

That was when she suffered a spike injury to her Achilles at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games in Holland.

“I'm really excited to be racing again,” said England. “There were times when I thought I might not make it back to the start line in 2012.

“It's great to get to race in Crystal Palace, as it has always been one of my favorite racing venues.”

England has been training hard in France as she prepares for the Olympics, but she knows she faces a big test tonight.

The field includes Americans Anna Pierce, Morgan Uceny, Shannon Rowbury and world champion Jennifer Simpson.

Also competing are 2007 and 2009 world champion Maryam Jamal (Bahrain) plus Britons Lisa Dobriskey and Laura Weightman, who will join England at London 2012.

England said: “As usual the race organisers have assembled a great field.

“I am looking forward to a world class race and am optomistic of my chances of doing well.

“Ultimately the Olympic Games is still my main focus, but this is an important step stone towards that.”

Oxfordshire’s Lawrence Clarke will test himself in a strong 110m hurdles field that includes Chinese star Liu Xiang and world champion Jason Richardson.

The heats are at 5.46 and 5.56pm, with the final at 7.48pm.

Clarke will be looking to break the 13.30-second barrier to continue his great progress this season.

The 22-year-old, from Christmas Common, near Watlington, clocked 13.14 and 13.29 at the Meeting de Madrid on Saturday.

But both times were recorded in faster than legal wind conditions.

Clarke’s personal best is 13.33.

Former Radley athlete Hatti Archer was due to compete in the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday, but has now withdrawn.
