David Kuester won the vet 65 gold medal in the MMTG British Decathlon Throws Championships at the Moorways Stadium, Derby.

The 68-year-old Bicester athlete triumphed for the fourth year in a row with a points total of 4,848, with White Horse Harrier Richard Jegou second.

Kuester’s results were hammer (31.45m), shot (8.67), discus (28.09), javelin (32.73), heavy hammer (15.00), sling ball (38.89), 7.5kg brick (7.17), 250g club (44.43 pb), 4kg mini shot (15.92) and one-handed hammer (19.35).

White Horse Harriers’ Paul Jegou broke the previous course record, but still finished third in the North Devon Coastal Marathon.

Jegou clocked 3hrs 23mins 25secs for the demanding race held under fell running rules, which was won by John Ward (Bideford) in 3.03.51.
