BROUGHTON & North Newington beat leaders Oxenford on Saturday with a 42-run victory which left the top of Division 1 finely poised, writes KIEREN BUSHNELL.

Gary Crook’s 81 and Olly Evans’s 46 led Broughton to a daunting total of 223-8, which proved beyond Oxenford, who were bowled out for 181, despite 65 from Augustine Robertson.

It means just one point separates the top three.

Westbury moved up to second spot with a 66-run win over arch rivals Great Horwood.

Tom Wilson scored 54 as Westbury posted 183-7, before Charlie Harper claimed 6-32 as Horwood were all out for 117.

Garsington were thwarted by the elements for the second successive week.

Keith Parsler (58no) had led Garsington to 175 all out, and East Oxford were struggling on 113-6 when the rain came.

Shrivenham were also scuppered by the weather against Charlbury.

They made only 139-7, but Charlbury limped to 61-6 as Scott Valentine took 4-22.

Combe captain Robbie Nicholson scored a century and took five wickets as his side thrashed West Ilsley by 167 runs in Division 2.

Batting first, Nicholson scored exactly 100, while youngsters Joe Thomas and Steve Dobson both hit 59.

Nicholson then claimed 5-26 as Ilsley were out for 105.

In-form East & West Hendred slipped up as they lost by 11 runs at home to Westcott.

Najam Ur Rehman hit 63 in Westcott’s 152 all out, Charlie Mulford starring with 7-32.

But Hendred fell to 141 as Rod Baker claimed 5-24.

Clifton Hampden’s 100 per cent Division 3 record was ended by Chipping Norton.

Rhys Warner-Carter (49no) and Ben Tew (49) led Chippy to 222-8.

Richard Beard (59) and Morley Benson (31) got Clifton close, but they ended on 194-8.

Winslow Town beat Hailey by 69 runs.Callum Price hit 69 in Winslow’s 180 all out, Steve Kearsey taking 5-46.

Hailey were all out for 111 in reply, thanks to four wickets apiece from Fenton Price and Mike Edworthy.

Rain ruined an exciting finish between Witney Swifts and Radley.

Chasing Swifts’ 138-7, Radley were 121-6 when play halted.

Kennington were out for just 43 as Fringford won by nine wickets in Division 4.

John Bacon took 5-14 and Shaun Foote 5-19 for Fringford, who then raced to 46-1.

Chesterton edged out Deddington by two wickets.

Chasing 137-8, Chesterton reached 138-8 as Phil Lowe hit 76 not out.
