The Great Britain Rowing Team was announced this week for the 2012 Olympics.

The whole squad travelled to Windsor for the announcement by the chef de mission, Andy Hunt.

GB Rowing have qualified 13 out of 14 boats for the Olympics so the afternoon was pretty hectic, but a lot of fun.

In the women’s eight our final selection is still a little way off.

We are running a group of ten rowers for eight seats.

We are off to race in Munich next week at the final world cup race of the season, after which our chief coach, Paul Thompson, will make his final decision.

Which means we still have a few more weeks of uncertainty ahead of us.

Uncertainty is something that you get very used to dealing with when rowing in an eight.

The GB men’s eight have also only named seven rowers for their crew because of an injury.

The more rowers in a boat, the more chance you have of someone being ill or injured and that makes it much harder to achieve consistency.

The best eights are the ones that can keep the momentum going even with swaps and changes.

We try to remember all the other crews on the Olympic start line will have had to manage some tricky situations throughout the season too.

It’s the ones that handle it best that will be most successful.

Now now my main focus is the third and final world cup of the season in Munich next week.

We will have stiff competition so it will be a really good test for us before we head off on the final preparation camps.

Exciting times ahead for the GB rowing team!
