History was made when the Oxfordshire Senior Girls Development Squad recorded a four-wicket win over South Oxfordshire in the Under 13 Section of the Oxfordshire District Festival at Didcot.

It is the first time a girls’ side have beaten a boys team in a county competition.

The girls put on an excellent display of bowling and fielding to skittle out the boys for 66 in the 25th over. Eliza Goode and Rowan White collected two wickets apiece.

The girls passed the target in the 29th over for the loss of six wickets.

Earlier in the week, the girls lost to West Oxfordshire after being bowled out for 60.

Oxon Senior Girls 60 (J Stadden 23, T Jones 3-5, G Symms 3-6), West Oxfordshire 61-4.

Vale of White Horse 155-3 (A Halgreen 50no, D Jacobs 36, J Warner 29), Oxon Senior Girls 4-1 – match abandoned.

South Oxfordshire 66 (R White 2-1, E Goode 2-6), Oxon Senior Girls 67-6.

OXFORDSHIRE Under 13 Girls suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Wales at Newport CC in a match reduced to 30 overs by rain.

Oxon were held together by opener Emily Ong, who carried her bat for 70 not out in their total of 123-6.

Then Oxon put down six catches, as Wales got home with 19 balls to spare.
