Fran Houghton, from Wheatley, was named in the women's quad when the British rowing team for the Olympics was announced in Windsor today.

Houghton and Debbie Flood, silver medallists alongside Kath Grainger in 2008, are joined in the quad by Beth Rodford and Melanie Wilson.

Injury concerns over Constantine Louloudis have prevented the British Olympic Association from finalising the men's eight crew for London 2012.

Louloudis, 20, who rows for the Henley-based Leander Club, was selected as stroke of the eight at the start of the season but was then forced to withdraw from both the Belgrade and Lucerne World Cups with a back injury.

There are also question marks over the final make-up of the women's eight, with ten athletes named by the BOA at today's official announcement in the shadow of Windsor Castle.

Selection was complicated by a combination of injury and illness. Wallingford's Lindsey Maguire, who was injured, is in the mix and battling for final selection. But Oxford Academy teacher Caroline O'Connor has been selected as cox.

Britain were able to name a powerful squad that featured five of the six Olympic champions from Beijing.

Oxford's Andrew Triggs Hodge is joined by former Oxford Blue Pete Reed, Henley-based Tom James Leander's Alex Gregory in his bid to defend the Olympic title in the men's four.

Wallingford's Zac Purchase and Leander's Mark Hunter will do the same in the lightweight men's double scull.

The lightweight men's four features brothers Richard and Peter Chambers (Oxford Brookes) plus Chris Bartley and Rob Williams.
