CAPTAIN Morley Benson scored a memorable double century for Clifton Hampden, but remarkably finished on the losing side against East Oxford 2nd in the second round of the Telegraph Cup, writes KIEREN BUSHNELL.

Benson (202) and Richard Beard (102no) shared a league record opening stand of 334 as they chased down a mammoth East Oxford total of 340-7, but finished agonisingly one run short in an amazing match.

Earlier, Amir Butt (92) and Mohammed Ayyaz (85no) helped East Oxford to their total, the innings containing 16 sixes.

But faced with the daunting target, Benson and Beard put East Oxford to the sword, only for Clifton to finish on 339-2.

Cairns Fudge also had another run-fest as they amassed 376-5 at Charlbury 2nd.

Will Caiger led the way with 143, bringing up his century in just 50 balls.

Jamie Clark and Chetan Patel took four scalps each as Charlbury were 150 all out.

Combe’s Sam Kellie celebrated his 17th birthday with a maiden five-wicket haul to set up a four-wicket win over Hailey.

Kellie claimed 5-35 and Robbie Nicholson 4-11 as Hailey were shot out for 51, Combe reaching 52-6 for victory.

Witney Swifts cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Deddington.

Mark Horne (4-15) and Alfie Saunders (4-33) combined to skittle Deddington for 86, and Swifts cruised to 87-1.

Omar Hussain took 4-13 in 12 overs as Radley beat Eynsham by 86 runs.

Billy Webb’s 60 saw Radley to 141-9, before Hussain, Manley du Preez (3-10) and Darren Jones (3-16) combined to knock Eynsham over for 55.

Paul Davies and Lee Price shared eight wickets as Chesterton beat Great Horwood 2nd by seven wickets.

Davies took 4-11 and Price 4-25 in Horwood’s 84 all out. Chesterton made 85-3.

JOSH Grant slammed a maiden OCA League ton to help Witney Swifts 2nd to a seven-wicket win at Kilkenny 2nd in the second round of the Keith Crump Centenary Cup.

Kilkenny posted 226-7 as Daniel Floyd scored 94 not out, but Swifts eased to 227-3 thanks to Grant’s superb 130.

A youthful Minster Lovell 3rd crushed Deddington 2nd by 128 runs.

Steve Smith (67) and 15-year-old Connor Tinsley (62) helped Minster to 214 all out, before William Hayes (4-15) starred in Deddington’s 86 all out.

Cowley defeated Broughton 2nd by 132 runs.

Jason Lowe (96) led Cowley to 254-6, and then Haroon Usman claimed 5-19 and Waqas Ali 4-17 in Broughton’s 122 all out.

TOM Bozman scored 126 to help Kidlington to a 151-run win over Dorchester in the second round of the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup.

Kidlington rattled up 282-5, Jack Desmond chipping in with 62, before Craig Rogers (4-45) and Ed Wilmot (3-17) tucked in to dismiss Dorchester for 134.

Ollie Pascoe’s 6-50 was in vain for Stanton Harcourt as Shrivenham 2nd won by three wickets.

Stanton were 162 all out, but 70 from Darius Laud saw Shrivenham to 164-7.

Skipper Rezwan Rana claimed 5-18 as Stanton St John Willows beat Minster Lovell 2nd by 109 runs.

Uffington eased to an 88-run victory at Swinbrook.

John Boaler (75) led the way in the visitors’ 177 all out and Ashley Green claimed 4-25 as Swinbrook were dismissed for 89.

Jamie van Santen scored 100 in Wolvercote’s 169 all out, but could not stop Risinghurst winning by four wickets, Gaurav Samuel (51no) leading them to 170-6.

RUSSELL King took 5-40 to help Bampton to a four-wicket win at Chesterton 2nd in the Osberton Radiators Cup second round.

The home side were all out for 187, before Nick Pitt (52), King (42) and Richard Pitt (38) saw Bampton to 188-6.

Richard Knight claimed six wickets for Hook Norton 2nd, but could not inspire his team to victory as they lost by three wickets at Sunningwell.

Hook Norton were dismissed for 131, Martin Waugh taking 4-36, before Sunningwell reached 132-7.
