Thame Town hung on for a hard-fought draw away to promoted side Cove in Division 2 West of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League on Saturday.
Chasing a victory target of 224, Thame never got close, finishing on 167-9.
Put in to bat, Cove got off to flyer with an aggressive half-century from Saad Khan.
However, with regular wickets falling, the game was evenly poised at lunch with Cove on 121-4.
Afterwards, Reagan McLean rode his luck to make 50, boosting the run rate.
A fine spell from Thame skipper Mike Higgs helped restrict Cove to 223 off 58 overs.
After 20 overs of their reply, Thame were 70-2, but none of the top four could carry on from their starts.
Thame remained positive, but when the ninth wicket fell, they were happy to settle for a good draw, with the last pair surviving.
