CHALLOW & Childrey openers Vishane Perera and Ryan Gordon put on an unbroken partnership of 229 to take their side to an impressive ten-wicket win at home to Wolverton Town. Perera was one short of his ton and Gordon on 90 when the winning run was scored. Earlier Town had looked like making a game of it as Shaun Potter made 65 and Charlie Maw 44 in their 227 all out. Joe Harris took 4-49 and Conor Taylor 4-59.

Challow & Childrey 25pts, Wolverton Town 5

There was a much closer finish at Long Marston, where Tiddington squeezed home by two wickets off the second ball of the final over. Matt Wareham (67), Mark Green (58) and Adam Wells (33) helped Marston post a competitive 219-8, while Matt Maule wheeled away to finish with 3-56. Jon Talbot then hit 75 and Nick Pykett struck 41 and Pete Toovey took 3-91 to set up the tense finale, which ended with the visitors on 222-8.

Long Marston 12, Tiddington 25

Amin Rafiq pouched 5-13 as Sandford St Martin slumped to 94 all out at Oxford Downs 2nd. Chris Thompson’s 47 was the only batting performance of note for the visitors, while Justin Cantrill also bowled well to finish with 3-11. Will Watts (34no) and James Ellwood (32no) turned the run chase into a procession as Downs romped home by nine wickets.

Oxford Downs 2nd 25, Sandford St Martin 1

Oxford 2nd climbed to the top of the fledgling league table by beating Aston Rowant 2nd, who are still seeking their first win. Oxford’s 206 was built around Brad Sutherland’s 41 and Taylor Beatty’s unbeaten 49. After the interval Chris Eaton hit 40 for Rowant, but Sutherland took 3-45 and the visitors fell away to 171 all out.
