WALLINGFORD had a day to remember at their home regatta, claiming two victories and several places.

The SiS Wallingford Regatta – the largest one-day event in the country– took place at Dorney Lake, only a couple of months before the Olympics are held there.

And the hosts’ J16 women coxless four, consisting of Alice Walker, Hannah Whelan, Freya Dale and Leanne Reeves raced through the heats to win their category.

Then, Wallingford’s Caroline Greves competed in the intermediate single sculls, winning both her heat and the final.

There was also success for Oxford Brookes University B, who won the women’s intermediate 1 quadruple sculls.

Other Wallingford crews also stood out, with the club finishing second in the women’s elite pairs, and Anna Reid and Christina Heemskerk coming third and fourth respectively in the women’s elite singles.

Other Oxfordshire crews also had near misses.

Radley College finished second in the J16 and J15 eights, while Headington School were runners-up in the women’s under 18 eights, J16 coxed fours and J18 quadruple sculls.

Headington also came third in the J15 coxed quadruple sculls and the women’s elite coxless pairs.
