BB&O round-up

WITNEY 2nd sealed the BB&O Division 1 title on the final day with a 31-16 victory at Chinnor 3rd.

Victory saw them finish a point above Henley 3rd, who crucially had five points deducted earlier in the season.

Tries from George Bibby, Rob Mills, Luke Manning, Marc Copperwheat and Jack Birks, plus three Manning conversions did the trick.

Bicester 2nd were confirmed as Division 3 champions following a 34-10 win at Phoenix 2nd.

Fred Everitt (2), Chris Nash, Ali Atashgah and Chad Ward scored Bicester’s tries, while James Blake kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Chipping Norton saw their outside promotion hopes ended with a 7-0 defeat at Swindon College Old Boys in the Premier Division.

They finished third, while Bicester were fourth, despite losing their final match 48-0 at champions Drifters.

Bicester lacked passion and lost hooker Gareth Evans and centre Jak Cluness to neck and back injuries respectively.

George Mogoligott (3), Alex Rankin (3) and Alan Morgan scored tries for Drifters, with Mark Bannister kicking five conversions and a penalty.

Harwell, who have already won the Championship division, were handed a walkover by Berkshire Shire Hall.

Stephen Pollard scored two tries as Wheatley won 37-10 at home to Aldermaston and finished fifth, having lost just three matches since Christmas.

Adam Ford, Jordan Mayling, Russell Neal and Jason Wilson also crossed over, with Jason Laman kicking two conversions and a penalty.

Abingdon were pipped 16-14 at Winslow thanks to a last-minute drop goal.

Visiting wing Rob Tyreman scored a try, with fly half Mark Roberts slotting three penalties.
