JAMES Clarke’s second-half strike gave Oxfordshire Under 16s a 1-0 win over Dorset at Swanage and ensured they won the Southern section of the South West Counties competition.

It was Oxon’s eighth consecutive victory, and it puts them through to the semi-final at home to the runners up of the South West section.

Clarke had an effort cleared off the line in the first half, before breaking the deadlock with a low shot from Yassin Elouahabi’s cross after the break.

Dom Hyam and Toby Egden were outstanding at the heart of the Oxfordshire defence, while Jacob Hughes saw his shot blocked on the line in the last minute.

Meanwhile, Oxfordshire’s opponents in the ESFA Under 16 Inter County Trophy final will be Durham, who beat Cheshire 6-4 after extra time at King’s School, Chester.

They will meet on Tuesday, May 8 (1pm) at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

l SAM Beaumont hit a first-half hat-trick as Vale of White Horse Under 13s won 6-1 at Luton to keep their hopes alive of lifting the Meeson Trophy.

Beaumont was scoring his first goals for Vale as was Zac Field, who bagged a long-range brace.

Murray Bellis completed the scoring for Vale, who need to beat Southampton in their last league match at Abingdon Town next Wednesday to go top.

Swindon would then need to win their last match against Gosport to join Vale on level points.

l OXFORD City Under 15s ran out 3-0 winners over Vale of White Horse in the Wright Cup semi-final at Milton United.

l JAMES Ormrod bagged a brace in Vale of White Horse Under 11s’ 4-4 friendly draw at Potters Bar.

Jamie Masters and Calum Sykes were also on target for Vale in the clash at Oakmere School.

l EYNSHAM School will battle it out in both the boys and girls’ south west regional finals of the ESFA Under 11s Seven-a-side Championship at Bristol on Saturday.
