OCCASIONAL reserve player Chris Ehrlich starred as Vikings G reached the Oxford & District Association’s Aubrey Hughes Handicap Shield final.

Ehrlich was pressed into action after regular player John Tremayne broke an arm during the recent icy conditions.

Vikings G’s Geoff Tickner, Tatiana Bachkirova and Ehrlich were given 160 points start against their opponents Vikings B.

Rob Williams, Nigel Taylor and Roel Dullens found Ehrlich almost unplayable.

The handicap had been adjusted to take account of Ehrlich's quality, but possibly by not enough and Vikings G won by 72 points.

Forum B moved closer to taking the other final place by beating Forum I.

Guy Plowman, Cameron Patterson and Andrew Legge, of Forum I, had been allocated a 195 points start.

But Jens Kaftan, Fraser Harris and Andrew Flint slowly pulled away and won by 32 points.

Forum B now face Bicester A to finally resolve who will face Vikings G in the final.

RESULTS

Vikings B 372, Vikings G (+160) 444; Forum I (+195) 388, Forum B 420.
