Manager Richie Bourne is looking for greater commitment from striker Danny Seaward as Abingdon United bid to post their first win of 2012 when they visit Thatcham Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Seaward, who joined Abingdon after being released by Didcot Town in January, dropped out of last Saturday’s goalless draw at Bishops Cleeve citing family reasons.

But Bourne said: “I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but word gets round with players wondering whether it is correct or not.

“I have not been happy. I have signed the lad to play and he has not started an away game yet, and there are a couple he could have done.

“I don’t want any players here who don’t want to be here.”

Abingdon, who have drawn four and lost four of their eight games since beating Didcot 3-0 on Boxing Day, are boosted by the return of captain Ricky Allaway.

However, right back Michael Buck is out with an ankle injury, and Carl Evans is playing for the Army in an inter-services game.

Didcot Town defender Kevin Halliday faces a late check before the trip to promotion-chasing Sholing.

Halliday suffered a head injury in an off-the-ball incident during Didcot’s battling 1-0 win at Tiverton on Tuesday.

He was taken to hospital, and received treatment to his right eye.

Boss Dave Mudge said: “He has been given a clean bill of health, but we will just monitor him over the next day or so.”

Didcot’s manager hopes to have new signing Chris Owens from AFC Hayes available, although he was still awaiting confirmation from the league yesterday that the paperwork had gone through.
