OXFORD Harlequins’ season starts with tomorrow’s visit of Weston-super-Mare, according to manager Steve Chadbone.

Having won just once in 2012, Quins are nine points adrift of safety in National 3 South West, with six matches to play.

Tomorrow’s clash is the first of four remaining home mat-ches for Quins and Chadbone admitted time is running out.

“Our season starts now, really,” said Chadbone. “This is the coalface.

“We can make it a lot easier for ourselves by winning this week.

“Otherwise we may need to win almost every other match to survive.

“We have got to get into the habit of winning.”

Flanker Mike Forde and full back Frank Mayfield return to the Quins side.

Andy Noyce provides backs cover on the bench, while lock Will Clayton faces a fitness test.

Alex Powell continues at No 8 despite coming off injured against Chinnor.

Chadbone said: “We are a little bit stronger than last week against Chinnor with the return of Mike and Frank.

“But we got everything out of last week’s performance that we hoped for.”

Chinnor host relegation-threatened Amersham & Chiltern, with head coach Jason Bowers facing a selection headache.

This was heightened by Chinnor’s second team beating Oxford Brookes University 39-6 in the Oxfordshire Cup semi-finals.

Bowers said: “There is a lot of competition because of the performance on Monday.

“That certainly put the cat among the pigeons because so many people played very well.”

Wings Pip Seymour and Tom Gray are back in the squad after injury and unavailability respectively.

Prop Tom Whelan and flanker Adam Hastings also return.

Bowers added: “I think it will be a really tough fixture. They got into a 16-0 lead against us at their place.

“With their position just above the relegation zone, they will want to put some results together.”

Wing Xavier Andre is ruled out of Henley Hawks’ trip to Bristol’s Dings Crusaders in National 2 South after picking up a shoulder injury.

Prop Alec Hepburn remains on England Under 20 duty, while Andy Downing, Chris Emmett and Paul Trendell are added to the squad that lost at Worthing last week.

Dings are captained by Stean Williams, while another former Henley player Mitch Burton is their place-kicker.

Wing Lewis Collins, prop Matt Calley and lock Charlie Bennett return to the Witney side for their visit to Reading in South West 1 East.

Prop Alan Richens comes in on the bench.
