HATTI Dean and Frances Briscoe led the way for Oxfordshire runners in the Saucony English National Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill, London.
Former Radley athlete Dean was fifth in the ladies’ race, while White Horse Harrier Frances Briscoe came 16th.
Dean completed the 8km course in 27mins 47secs, leading her club Hallamshire Harriers to the team title.
Running for her first-claim club Coventry Godiva Harriers, Oxfordshire cross country champion Briscoe clocked 29.25.
Meanwhile, Steve Naylor, from Woodstock, missed the race due to injury.
The Bedford & County athlete and Oxfordshire cross country champion chose not to run for fear of aggravating an Achilles tendon problem.
Abingdon Amblers’ Fiona Bunn finished 25th in the under 13 girls’ race, clocking 12.26.
In the under 15 girls’ event, Oxford City’s Beth Hawtin came 40th, recording 15.12.
White Horse Harrier Sophie Lloyd came 47th in the under 17 girls’ event, crossing the line in 20.34.
Oxford City’s Jade Walker produced her first top-50 finish in a major race with 46th place in the under 20 women’s event, clocking 25.03.
City’s senior women were 38th out of 73 teams.
