National 2 South
HENLEY Hawks saw their promotion hopes all but end with a 35-21 defeat at Worthing.
Hawks are now 11 points off a play-off place, with Old Albanians and Worthing seemingly fighting it out for second spot.
Worthing led 10-0 thanks to full back Matt McLean’s penalty, plus his conversion of wing Alex Nielsen’s try.
Tries from fly half James Comben and centre Tom Allen, both converted by Comben, put Henley ahead.
Nielsen, replacement Michael Stubbs and wing Jack Maslen scored for Worthing.
Debutant lock Will Rowlands’s try, converted by Comben, gave Hawks hope, but they had flanker Matt Payne yellow-carded.
McLean’s penalty and his conversion of lock Charley McGowan’s try sealed it, despite the latter’s late yellow card.
