Banbury United, looking to beat Chippenham for only the third time in 20 games, had to settle for a 1-1 draw despite taking the lead against Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division high-fliers Chippenham Town.
After Dior Angus had fired over, Banbury took the lead in the 14th minute when Ricky Johnson raced on to a through ball and placed into the corner of the net from 12 yards.
Well-marshalled at the back by Liam Dolman, Banbury nearly increased their lead, but Danny Edmonds shot wide.
Chippenham equalised in the 63rd minute when Scott Lye beat Joe Coleman on the left, and crossed for the experienced Alan Griffin to fire home at point-blank range.
Banbury Utd: Kemp, Coleman, Polk, Dolman, Chilton, Emery, Edmond (82 mins. Howell), Cole, Johnson, Angus (73 mins, Blake), Williams. Subs (not used) Richardson, Thackeray, Kinch Attendance: 201.
