Clanfield secured a hard-fought win away to in-form Easington in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West on Saturday With the breeze at their backs Easington had the better of the early exchanges, but Clanfield defended well.
There was just one alarm when a cross by Tom Foley drifted onto the junction of post and crossbar.
At the other end, Mark Odom, Adam Little and Robbie Harrington all went close.
The only goal of the game came midway through the second half.
Good work by Little down the right saw him cut in and send in a low cross that was turned into the net by the inrushing Odom.
It might have been two as Dan Dixon chipped the keeper only to see his effort bounce onto the crossbar and away to safety.
Then a goalbound Steve Olphert effort was charged down.
The visitors defended well to secure three welcome points.
