Oxford City Nomads closed the gap between them and Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Ardley United to just two points with a dramatic 2A-1 victory away to bottom club Bracknell Town.

With Ardley having a day off, Nomads were trailing to Ben Knight’s first-half goal before they snatched victory with two goals in the last three minutes from Reece Fleet and Albi Skendi.

A depleted Abingdon Town were indebted to veteran player-manager Chris Fontaine as they battled back from 2-0 to win 3-2 at Fairford Town.

The home side’s two-goal start came courtesy of Dan Bailey and Jack Williams in the first half-hour.

Mark Janes brought the Abbots back into the game just before the break, walking the ball into the net after a mistake by Fairford keeper Luke Adams.

The second half was all Abingdon, and the equaliser came from Fontaine, who finished with a neat chip.

The points were sealed by Janes’s smart lob over the keeper with six minutes left.

In a game in which they played as well as they have all season, Wantage Town went down 2-1 to some sharp-shooting from hosts Flackwell Heath.

Wantage took the lead in the sixth minute, Jack Daley and Danny Keen combining well to feed Graham Edney, who volleyed past Sam Southerden.

Flackwell equalised in the 34th minute when Nathan Poulton drove a low shot through a mass of players.

The game could have gone either way, but Flackwell clinched victory through Leigh Thompson in the 72nd minute.

Edney suffered a serious ankle injury in the final minutes. Thame United beat Henley Town 4-3 in a thriller with goals from James Faulkner, Nik Rhodes (2) and an 89th-minute winner from Alex Stewart.

Scorers for Henley were David Hoar, Ahmed El-Amir and Dauda Fofanah.

Witney Town slumped to a 2-0 home defeat against Wokingham & Embrook, whose goals were scored by Sam Whiting and Luke Lee.
