MICHAEL Duberry feels that everything is going against him at the moment – but he won’t let it affect him.

The Oxford United defender, who captained the side on Saturday in the absence of the unwell Jake Wright, scored his third own goal in four home games as the U’s were held to a draw by Macclesfield.

But the former Chelsea and Leeds centre back says that although every mistake he makes seems to end in a goal of late, he refuses to let his levels of performance drop.

And that is due to staying positive.

“I had a feeling that I might score today,” he said after the 1-1 draw. “But I certainly didn’t it forsee it coming like that.

“I just feel that every mistake I have made this season has ended with a goal or even a penalty, but I’ll just get on with it.

“Of course it bothers me because I don’t like making a mistake, but I don’t let it affect my game – you can’t.”

Duberry, who has been outstanding since joining United from St Johnstone in the summer, scored two own goals in the 2-2 draw with Hereford at the Kassam Stadium in January.

Despite getting on the scoresheet at the wrong end again, Duberry says that you have to try and block it out during the game.

“I don’t like having og’s next to my game, of course I don’t,” he said.

“It’s cost us a clean sheet and that’s something I like having as a defender “I don’t think they did anything to warrant scoring, but the quality in the second half was nowhere near what it should be.”

Duberry said the United changing room was a very downbeat place at the final whistle, and they know that their performance was not good enough.

“We never got going in the second half,” he said.

“We hear the moans and groans from the crowd and as a team we feel that too.

“We have let teams off the hook at home by not taking our chances and maybe that was the same today.

“But I’m stood here talking to you having scored an own goal, knowing that although they didn’t trouble us at all, they have gone away with a draw.

“It’s two points dropped for sure.”
