National 2 South
HENLEY Hawks defeated Launceston 28-5 with a dominant display at Dry Leas, which kept them in the promotion race.
Launceston defended well and frequently slowed the ball down, but only breach-ed Henley’s 22 in the final minute.
Hawks notched three converted tries in the first 12 minutes, the first coming from wing Xavier Andre, who broke from half-way.
Man-of-the-match, flanker Ryan Newman, was next on the scoresheet, finishing off after Andre had been stopped short.
Fly half James Comben stepped through the defence for try No 3, then added his third conversion.
Launceston had hooker James Salter yellow-carded before half-time, while props Neil Bayliss and Tim Mathias were sin-binned in the second half.
Flanker Matt Payne drove over for Comben to convert on 60 minutes, while fly half Lewis Webb scored Launceston’s late consolation.
