DEAD-BALL specialist Stuart Hole scored twice as North Leigh moved to within a point of the play-off positions in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West with a 3-0 win at Clevedon.

Both sides struggled early on on a pitch drenched in a downpour before the kick-off.

After an altercation between North Leigh keeper Sam Warrell and Clevedon striker Chas Hemmings was calmed down by the referee, North Leigh took the lead after 19 minutes.

Clevedon defender Rhymel Henderson-Hudson was ad-judged to have handled a Michael Hopkins shot, and Hole duly dispatched the resultant penalty.

With their noses in front, the visitors took command of the game with Morgan Willi-ams, operating up front, a constant threat, Elliott Osborne-Ricketts’s shot from the edge of the box had keeper Jason Mellor clawing the ball over the bar at full stretch.

They scored a second and killer goal in the 48th minute.

Brian Bowles gathered the ball in midfield and passed to Osborne-Ricketts.

He threaded a great ball to Williams who drew the keeper and clipped it past him into the net.

Bowles then shot just wide before North Leigh wrapped up the game in the 65th minute.

From a free-kick just outside the home box in the centre, Hole stepped up and curled the ball around the wall, leaving the keeper stranded.

Clevedon brought on prolific striker Reeko Best, but the visiting centre-backs Tom Franklin and Andy Caton withstood the pressure of an increased threat.

North Leigh boss Mark Gee introduced all three subs including new signing Dam-ien Crudup.
