Oxfordshire batsman Rob Williams led Preston Capes to victory over Cropredy in Division 1 of the Banbury Indoor League, but only after a mighty scrap.

Williams’s 35 not out steered them to 148-4 and Cropredy finished five runs short as James Coleman made 42 not out.

The battle of the Banbury teams saw Banbury A lose by six wickets to their clubmates.

The A team lost two penalty overs due to their late arrival, but still made 117-0 in their eight.

Paul Cutler led Banbury home with 26 not out as they reached 118-3 in nine overs.

Tom Gurney’s 61 proved in vain as Westbury were dismissed for 115 chasing Sandford’s 128-4, in which Martin Anson made an unbeaten 34, while Great Tew’s 130-4 was enough to defeat Charlbury.
