THE Oxfordshire region of the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain held their latest fish-in at Orchid Lakes, Dorchester-on-Thames, but it was a carp that stole the show.
A total of 22 anglers enjoyed a great day under the guidance of owner Marsh Pratley and his bailiffs.
The renowned big-carp fishery receives very little attention in the way of pike fishing and despite the cold and bright weather, the fishing lived up to expectations, with 60 pike being caught.
The biggest was a superb specimen of 21lb, which fell mid-morning to Mick Woods. Legered herring was the successful bait.
The largest fish caught though was a 21.7.0 mirror carp which took a liking to Rob Orton’s deadbait!
Most anglers caught a number of pike during the day, with ten of them being double figures.
