OXFORD United’s game at Accrington Stanley tomorrow is looking more and more likely to be called off.

As reported in yesterday’s Oxford Mail, the match faces a pitch inspection this morning.

That will take place at 11.30am, before the U’s are due to set off.

However, while the Crown Ground pitch is covered, it is frozen underneath and looks unlikely to thaw in time.

An Accrington spokesman said last night: “It got to 1 degree today, which is the warmest it has been all week.

“But an added complication is that is has rained and the fear is that will turn to ice and make the whole area unsafe.”
