KIDLINGTON started the year with a second place in the first round of the Chiltern League at Aylesbury.

The ten years and under swimmers did exceptionally well, with the girls, Amy Broome, Ellie Broome, Katie Parsons and Zoe Hazel winning their medley relay and coming second in the freestyle relay.

The boys, Gregory Northwood, Hamish Munroe, Edward Crisp and Daniel Ward, also won their medley relay and were second in the freestyle event.

Northwood gained a first place in the 50m freestyle.

Kidlington’s other first places came from Jamie Ward in the 14 & under 50m breaststroke and the 12 & under girls freestyle relay team of Kitty Surrage, Stephi Bourliakas, Lucy Parsons and Shellie Evans.

  • WANTAGE White Horses’ Harry James and Daniella Springett broke six club records between them at the Zonal Championships held at Millfield School in Somerset.

This event brought together the top swimmers from the south west, south east and London regions.

James, 16, finished fifth in the 200m breaststroke and sixth in the 100m breaststroke.

He also set club records in 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

Springett, 14, set new records in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
