Banbury Utd 1 (Edmond 18) Evesham Utd 2 (McPike 2, Pugh 70)

BANBURY United have now gone five games without a Premier Division win following defeat to Evesham United at Spencer Stadium on Saturday.

They got off to the worst-possible start when Evesham took the lead in the second minute.

The Robins won a corner from the right and James McPike bundled the ball over the line at the near post, with keeper Andy Kemp grasping at thin air.

But Banbury rallied and equalised in the 18th minute when Danny Edmond chased the ball down from the bye-line on the left, and turned in the box to rifle a brilliant right-foot shot over keeper Daniel Platt from 15 yards out.

Edmond almost put Banbury ahead early in the second half, shooting just wide of a post.

And in the same attack, Joe Cole had two shots blocked on the Evesham line before firing a third wide.

However, it was the Robins who broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when Benjamin Pugh netted from close in after Kemp had failed to hold a shot.

Banbury Utd: Kemp, Richardson (Fraser 59), Kinch, Dolman, Chilton, Thackeray, Williams, Cole, Blake, Edmond, Polk (Howell 84). Subs not used: Eyre, Lamb, Lamb-Johnson.

Attendance: 198.
