DAMIAN Batt says that Oxford United’s whole team are proud of their recent clean sheet run, and want to make sure it continues tomorrow.

The U’s have kept out the opposition for five of the last six matches – the only goal coming in the last minute of normal time against Crawley.

“We are performing well and defending well, and that’s not just the back five, but the whole team,” Batt said.

“We defended very well in the other game (Crawley) and on another day the shot goes over the bar instead of in the top corner.

“Everyone knows how much I like to go forward, but first and foremost for me it’s about keeping clean sheets.

“As a team we want to defend solidly as a unit and we have been doing that recently and it inspires us to do it in every game.”

Batt is now on nine bookings for the season, just one away from a suspension.

“I had forgotten that until you just said it,” he joked.

“But seriously, I am aware of it and will do what I can to not pick up another one to miss a couple of games.

“I have been a bit annoyed with a few of the bookings, but there’s nothing I can do, I’ll just try and not pick up another.”
