SUPPORTERS group OxVox last night praised the club for rejecting the bids for James Constable from Swindon Town.

A statement released to the Oxford Mail read: “OxVox is delighted to hear the news that Oxford United have turned down an approach from Swindon to buy James Constable, and we are sure that all Oxford will be too.

“We fully support the club’s decision to reject the bid and we feel it shows how far the club has come in the period since Kelvin Thomas and Chris Wilder joined.

“It is pleasing to see that the club feels it is in a strong enough position to reject a sizeable offer for one of our players. “Another reason that we are pleased that the club have decided to reject the offer is because the approach came from Swindon Town.

“James is a cult hero for Oxford fans and to sell him to the club’s fiercest rivals would have raised strong emotions amongst fans. “We are pleased to see the club is progressing well on and off the pitch, and today is further evidence of the board’s ambition to keep the club moving forward.”
