Zac McEachran, the younger brother of Chelsea star Josh, could make his Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division debut for Oxford City at home to Barwell tomorrow.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder played in City’s 3-2 defeat by Banbury United in the Red Insure Cup on Tuesday, and has now been called into their league squad for the first time.

“Zac is a very talented player and a smashing lad,” said City boss Mike Ford.

“It must be difficult living in the shadow of his brother, but it’s now time to show what he can do in his own right.

“He is his own man and has his own creative talents and we are excited that he is an Oxford City player.”

McEachran is called up because of a chronic shortage of front players.

The departure of Lee Steele, in controversial circumstances, and the nagging Achilles tendon problem of his former Oxford United strike partner Steve Basham has been exacerbated by the absence of Felipe Barcelos, Aaron Woodley and Alex Fisher.

Barcelos is suspended after picking up five bookings, while Woodley is having X-rays on the ankle he injured during Saturday’s 2-1 win at home to Chippenham. Fisher is unavailable.

That victory took City back into the play-off positions, though they trail Brackley by five points.

Ford will be hoping to keep up the momentum against ninth-placed Barwell.

Banbury United have bade farewell to talented midfielder Glenn Walker, who has joined neighbours Brackley Town.

Ady Fuller, who signed Walker from Corby Town at the start of the season, said: “Glenn’s done superbly for us.

“He didn’t really want to leave, but it was an offer he could not refuse financially. We’ll certainly keep in touch with him.”

Banbury are according to Fuller, ‘down to the bare bones’ for their match at home to Evesham.

In addition to Walker's departure, Ben Polk is absent after pulling his hamstring in the 1-0 win at Frome on Saturday, while Joe Coleman is suspended and Nick Kingston is still out with a knee injury.

The good news is that midfielder Sean Fraser has joined from Marlow and could be included in the squad.
