Oxford City Stars striker Josh Oliver has joined German club Red Devils Bad Nauheim following the side’s withdrawal from the English National League.

The 18-year-old will team up with the youth section of the Hesse state outfit.

The Red Devils described Oliver’s signing on a short-term professional contract as an “international transfer coup”.

Red Devils coach Stefan Himmler reported that he had received positive reports about Oliver from teammate Mike Whillock, who played with the teenager at Oxford.

Meanwhile, Oxford City Stars 2nd fought back to grab a 3-3 draw against Invicta Mustangs in South Division 2.

Trailing 3-1 in the final stages of the third period, player-coach Jeff Sykora pulled a goal back, before captain Nick Oliver bundled home the equaliser from a Darryl Jones pass.

Sykore had opened the scoring after picking up a rebound from a James Clarke drive.

But Jack Hussey levelled before the end of the first period, and further goals from Invicta captain Greg Hales and Matt Drake looked to have sealed Stars’ fate until their late rally.
