Oxford City bowed out of the Evo-Stik Southern League’s Red Insure Cup with a 3-2 extra-time defeat to rivals Banbury United at Court Place Farm in their third-round tie.

Mark Bell put City ahead on 15 minutes from an acute angle, Simon Williams levelling from the spot in the 42nd minute after Andy Ballard felled Ricky Johnson.

Two minutes later, Dan Edmonds netted to give Banbury the lead at the break.

City had the better of the second half, Felipe Barcelos levelling with eight mintes left to send the tie into extra time.

A second penalty clinched it for Banbury when Johnson converted in the 109th minute.

A goal seven minutes from time by James Faulkner rescued a Division 1 South & West point for Didcot Town in a 2-2 draw against Wimborne at the Loop Meadow Stadium.

After a promising first half for Didcot, in which Anaclet Odhiambo gave them a 14th-minute lead, Wimborne levelled through Tom Jeffes on 65 minutes.

And when Matt Kemble put them 2-1 up seven minutes later, it looked all over for Didcot, but Faulkner struck late on to salvage a draw.

Abingdon United lost 4-1 at Maidenhead United in the quarter-final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Invitation Cup.

Sam Collier scored from the spot to make it 1-1 after Paul Semakula had put the home side ahead, but two goals from Manny Williams, one from the penalty spot, and another from Ashan Holgate sealed the verdict.
