TWO tries from full back Nick Sevier helped Grove defeat Aylesbury 29-12 and climb to second.

Marauding No 8 Joe Bell-inger touched down inside two minutes, with fly half Dave Maryon’s conversion giving Grove a 7-0 lead.

A penalty move ended with flanker Matt Young going over in the corner before Aylesbury replied with a try.

Grove lost wing Harry Carr to injury, which meant Roger Sevier came on.

Nick Sevier sprinted through for a super try before the break and finished off a long pass from his brother in the second half.

Flanker Guy Nicholl touched down Grove’s fifth try, Roger Sevier converting.

Nicholl was yellow-carded for an alleged stamp before Aylesbury managed a converted try.

The match ended in an unsavoury mass brawl.

Wallingford’s bad luck continued with a 14-12 defeat at Tadley – their fourth successive narrow loss.

Tadley took the lead with a converted try after Wallingford wing Luker Best slipped while trying to field a chip.

It was an ugly game to watch, but Wallingford levelled with a 60-metre interception try from centre Frazer Hunt, converted by fly half Ralph Smith.

Wallingford had flanker Rich Bowers sin-binned, but it was 7-7 at half-time.

Tadley took the lead with a converted try from a scrum.

A bright Wallingford move saw captain Pete Holton find No 8 Ian Jeffreys, who beat his man for the try.

The visitors also went close through Jeffreys and Bowers.

Alchester captain Dan Kimber was taken to hospital by ambulance after injuring his neck during their 48-12 defeat at Beaconsfield.

Kimber was stretchered off during the first half, but was released later that day.

Alchester’s early pressure was rewarded with a try from wing Kristian Ancil.

But Beaconsfield, whose backs cut Alchester apart, replied with a converted try.

Alchester No 8 Adam Thompson was sin-binned and Beaconsfield scored two tries and a conversion.

On 30 minutes, Alchester bagged a short-range try from Kimber, Tom Miles converting. Kimber was injured at the restart.

Five tries and two conversions saw Beaconsfield run away with it in the second half.
