TITLE-chasing Chipping Norton edged out Bicester 15-13 in their Oxfordshire derby at Greystones.

Chippy, who trail leaders Thatcham by two points, twice had to come from behind to secure victory.

Dave Hampton released wing Dickie Walsh to outpace the home defence for Bicester’s opening try on eight minutes.

Chippy hit back straight away, with No 8 Matt Dawson putting flanker Andy Chapman across for a try, which centre Barry Nutt converted.

Bicester full back Jak Cluness almost set up Dave Aslett for a try, but they went ahead when No 8 Dan Spencer plunged over from a scrum.

Nutt equalised with a penalty, then Chippy fly half Adam Smith was driven over on the stroke of half-time.

Spencer slotted the only points of the second half with a penalty, while Bicester lock Mark Malins was yellow-carded.

Wing Tommy Newell’s try treble helped Gosford All Blacks hammer Littlemore 42-5 at Stratfield Brake.

Speedster Newell opened the scoring with his first try, then lock Richard Tyler dived over for captain Tim Ellis to convert.

Newell had a second score ruled out, but full back Ellis fed wing Ben Bodinham for No 3 and Ellis’s penalty made it 20-0 at half-time.

Gosford’s fourth try saw Newell motor in from centre James Barrett’s cross-kick, while Simon Gamble went over for Littlemore.

Newell completed his hat-trick before flanker Dan Hughes raced in from half-way.

Ellis supplied Harry Sutton for the final, which the former converted.
