OXFORDSHIRE 2nd made it two wins from two with a 10-5 success away to Gloucestershire 2nd in Division 4C of the Inter-County Championships.

Kathryn Schutterlin, Matt Jackson and David Richardson all won singles in two ends, giving Oxon a 3-1 advantage going into the doubles.

Jackson and Pete Browning, claimed both men’s doubles in three ends, while Paul Casey and Richardson won once.

Schutterlin and Claire Ham-ilton bagged one ladies’ doubles victory, giving Oxon a 7-5 lead.

After three nail-biting mat-ches, Oxfordshire secured a mixed doubles hat-trick, with Jackson and Hamilton winning in two ends.

Casey and Nicola Patrick, plus Browning and Schutterlin won in three ends.

  • CHARLIE Shan struck gold on home soil in the Badminton England Under 13 Bronze Grade tournament at the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, Abingdon.

The Abingdon player beat Pranav Santhosh Kumar of Hertfordshire 21-17 in the final of the boys’ singles.

Jeremy Lu (Abingdon) took silver in the boys’ doubles with his partner Owen Westbou-rne of Sussex.

Saania Jayawant (Oxford) claimed a girls’ singles bronze medal by defeating Ruchika Madhotra (Bucks).

Sam Heath (Oxford) and Louise Atkins (Drayton) won mixed doubles bronzes.

In the under 17 event, Edith Langford and Harry Brewis bagged bronzes in the mixed doubles, while fellow Oxfordshire player Alice Atkins matched them in the girls’ singles.
