GILES Waterson plays in the under 16 boys’ singles final of the Power Byrne Trophy at Bisham Abbey tomorrow.
The 15-year-old Abingdon School pupil, who plays at the town’s Vale of White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, faces No 1 seed Josef Dodridge at 10am.
Waterson, who is No 5 seed in the national tournament, has won four matches to get to this stage.
He opened up with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Zak Khan, then saw off Toby Bamber 6-1, 6-1 and No 2 seed Samuel Taylor 6-2, 6-2.
In the semi-finals, Waterson beat Cristian Kerrigan, the fourth seed, 6-0, 6-1.
Dodridge plays in the Father and Son Family Doubles immediately afterwards and then takes on Taylor in the under 18 boys’ singles final, for which he is third seed.
Waterson will hope his opponent is saving himself for his matches to come.
