HEAD coach Jason Bowers has warned Chinnor’s National 3 South West title rivals that their best is yet to come.

Chinnor have completed the first half of the season by defeating every other side in the division – 13 wins in all.

But Bowers stressed that competition for places and the squad’s intensity meant that nobody would be getting complacent.

“We said in our team talk after Newton Abbott, that is 13 wins out of 13 and we would certainly have taken that at the start of the season,” said Bowers.

“But we are all pushing each other hard and all we want to do is improve.

“We know that we still have got some way to go and can do more to surprise sides.

“We just need to keep doing what we are doing.”

Chinnor’s squad strength has been key to their progress this season, and that was brought home to Bowers when watching the second team hammer Tring 62-0 recently.

He said: “I have been really impressed with our second team. I think almost man-for,-man they could replace the first team.

“The strength in depth we have and the way we are gelling together, it is just a great time at the club.

“Even if we were to lose a couple of games, we have got enough to bounce back.

“I think the whole ethos is working.”

Bowers stressed Chinnor’s flair is being underpinned by real hard work, which should leave them well set for the remainder of the season, starting with Saturday’s trip to third-placed Redingensians.

Bowers said: “We gave them one hell of a conditioning session in training last week, which worked well.

“And then in Sam Stoop and Matt Goode, we have the best centre pairing in the league.”
