Robert Thornton is due to be have an operation on his broken right arm in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, today after being moved from the Hereford County Hospital.
The 33-year-old jockey suffered the injury in a fall from Western Whisky at Hereford on Sunday.
Thornton said: “I have an idea of how long I’ll be out for, but we’ll know more after the operation.
“It’s disappointing, but that’s life.”
