Oxford Hawks went six points clear at the top of Premier Division 2 of the Men's South League after dispatching Gore Court 4-0.

They went ahead after eight minutes when Ted Bennett slapped in a cross, but an injury to Charlie Ellison, Hawks’ influential centre back, set them back. Ellison took a blow to the head and had to be taken to hospital.

Gore Court were happy to sit back and keep Hawks at bay until the second half, when the home side took full control of the game.

Two goals in five minutes from Bennett and Joe Brownill sealed the verdict before a fourth from Sam Chilvers put the icing on the cake.

Oxford signed off the first half of their Regional Division 1 campaign with a 1-1 draw at home against PHC Chiswick.

It proved a sloppy affair, with neither side able to assert any control, and the only chances came from counter-attacks or mistakes.

After a goalless first half, Oxford’s Mark Carpenter was given a yellow card and Chiswick took advantage to go one up.

The hosts then upped their game and with time ticking down, they forced a short corner which Dan Smyth converted for his 14th goal of the season.

A 2-2 draw at Oxford 3rd saw Witney go second in Regional Division 2, Tim Hardy and Oliver Bailey scoring for the visitors’ goals.

Bicester won 3-0 away to British Airways in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

CJ Birtles put them ahead with a penalty after Jonny Reid was fouled, before second-half goals from Harry Gaunt and Geoff Snell ensured three points.
