Bashley 0

Oxford City 2

(Whitley og 1, Lyon 62)

Oxford City got back to winning ways in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division by completing the double over Bashley.

City, without a victory in their previous three league games, got off to a flying start with their fastest goal of the season, timed at 58 seconds.

Michael Lyon’s cross triggered a mix-up between Luke Whitley and goalkeeper Tom Smith saw the ball run off the former’s legs of the former and into the net for an own goal.

Andy Ballard and Lee Steele had efforts blocked for workmanlike City, who preserved their advantage to the break.

They doubled their lead in the 62nd minute with Ballard passing for Lyon to thump the ball home.

Former Oxford United defender Chris Willmott almost marked his City debut with a goal, heading Marvin Martin’s centre just over.

And Keith McCloughlin made sure of a clean sheet with a point blank save from Dave Allen.
