ADAM Chapman made his first appearance for Oxford United since their play-off final victory at Wembley when coming on as a last-minute substitute at Morecambe on Saturday, writes MARK EDWARDS.
The midfielder was released from prison at the start of September after serving 15 months of a 30-month prison sentence after being convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
However, Chapman broke a bone in his foot during his first week back at the club, leaving him unable to train.
But on Saturday, he pulled on the United shirt for the first time in 18 months.
As the former Sheffield United man came off the pitch after completing his warm-down, he commented: “That felt really good.”
United’s first-team coach Andy Melville said of Chapman’s first appearance: “We are really pleased for Adam.
“He has had a tough couple of years and it’s been a very difficult period in his life, but he has just got his head down and worked really hard and hopefully now can go from strength to strength.”
