Oxford City boss Mike Ford expressed his dismay after his side bowed out of the FA Cup following a 2-1 extra-time defeat against Redbridge in last night’s first-round replay at Court Place Farm.

Goals from Nathan Gordan and an extra-time strike from Ben Bradbury sealed victory for the Ryman League Division 1 outfit after Lee Steele had given City a first-half lead.

“We weren’t unlucky tonight,” said Ford.

“They were the better than us and deserved to win. Good luck to them.

“We were poor, really poor. We were nowhere near like we’ve been all season.

"We went a goal up against the run of play and we scrambled one away on the stroke of half-time. We were very fortunate to be a goal up.”

Ford added: “When you have decision-making as poor as ours over 90 minutes, then you have been affected by the occasion.

“We’ve got to dust ourselves down – I have given the players a few days off.

“We’ll be disappointed in the morning, but that’s football.

“It’s not the fact you lost or how you lost, it’s the fact it was an opportunity and we didn’t take it.”
