NORTH BERKS LEAGUE

STAR of the week was Drayton Res goalkeeper Tim Absolom, who saved three penalties in five minutes against Division 3 leaders Dorchester, writes Phil Annets.

Dorchester still won the game 3-0 with strikes from Dan Brind, Billy Warner and Joe Dixon – all from open play!

East Hendred resisted a late comeback from Wootton and Dry Sandford to secure their first win of the season in Division 1 with a 3-2 scoreline.

Hendred’s goals came from Sam Baring’s early strike, a Lewis Monaghan penalty and a Scott Nelmes effort. Wootton replied through Ben Taylor and Tom Cooke.

Crowmarsh Gifford remain top despite being held to a 1-1 home draw by Faringdon Town. Andy Allum’s first-half penalty was cancelled of by Derren Harrington’s second-half strike.

Saxton Rovers go level on points with Crowmarsh after Anson Stoute secured a 1-0 win at Kintbury Rangers.

Ellis Cooper scored the only goal of the game as Long Wittenham Athletic won 1-0 at home to Benson AFC.

Ian Oram produced the performance of the day, hitting a hat-trick as Drayton won 5-2 at AFC Wallingford.

Ashley Seamark and Andrew Chilvers were also on target, while Mike Fellows, with a penalty, and Craig Duncan netted for Wallingford.

Division 2 leaders Steven-ton crashed 4-0 at home to Lambourn Sports Res, for whom Craig Pearce, Dan Collins, Lloyd Ponsford and Kevin Willmoth all scored.

They have been overtaken by Berinsfield, who have been awarded the points for last week’s postponed game against Benson AFC Res.

This followed Berinsfield’s revenge win over Sutton Courtenay, replicating the 4-1 scoreline from earlier in the season.

Mark Ingram struck twice with Brian Rawlings and David Murphy netting one apiece. Connor Harris replied.

Ardington & Lockinge recorded a 2-0 win at Saxton Rovers Res thanks to Ben Sutton and James Bishop strikes.

Shane Northcott and Matt Banks both bagged a brace as Marcham romped to a 7-0 win over Benson AFC Res. Matt Brown, Steve Morris and Dan Barnes also scored.
